a cup of coffee with ellie
Hello and welcome to my portfolio! In the perfect world, we would be getting to know one another over coffee, but for now, this will have to do.
A child of the '80's, I grew up with an older brother in South Bend, IN. I spent my summers as a youth riding my bike and playing t-ball. My mom says I tried soccer, but only lasted a season. She noted that once I figured out everyone was eventually going to run back to the side of the field I was standing on, I just decided to stay put and wait patiently. So much for Olympic gold.
After high school, I began working as an administrative assistant in a dental office. Something about teeth and paperwork struck a chord with me, as I stayed in the field for many years after, while also teaching a few cycling classes on the side. This led to my dabble in triathlon, which in turn led to a date with a bike mechanic whom would later become my husband. When I made the decision to move to Grand Rapids to be closer to said bike mechanic, my love for helping others lead healthy lives in the fitness world had taken off. Soon, I was working as a personal trainer and teaching close to a dozen fitness classes a week. Unfortunately, my body was waving the red flag, and I returned to my work "roots" and spent several years as an administrative assistant in a wonderful dental office. After a life-changing experience with Spectrum Health, I decided to join their ranks in 2014. After two years there, I have gratefully accepted 3 promotions and am currently working as an Administrative Assistant for Information Services. This is the perfect position to learn the skills needed to eventually move into my goal of an Executive Assistant role.
That's me in a tiny nutshell. There's also the fun stuff, like riding bikes, loving my pets, volunteering for a cat shelter, and an unabashed love of cupcakes. Take a look around, and let's grab that cup of coffee sometime soon.
